This pocket earns its reputation from what's built around its own railway station, a dense apartment precinct wrapped by much quieter streets just a block or two away.
Federation-era cottages and older double-brick houses hold those quieter streets, while multi-storey towers have gone up right around the platform as transit-oriented development reshaped the blocks closest to the trains.
That split explains most of what we get called out for. Flexi hoses in the apartments and renovated bathrooms near the station burst and flood a unit without warning, and ageing hot water systems in the older houses tend to fail the same way, usually overnight.
